CHURCH ON THE MOVE

A few months ago a new initiative was launched at St Mark's, District Six. If the people cannot come to the church, then let's take the church to the people.

The Wednesday evening service of Praise & Worship is no longer held at church. Instead a travelling congregation visits the homes of parishioners who are either unable to attend church, or have availed their homes by their own request.

The church have made visits all across the Cape Flats, and as far afield as Kuils River in the northern suburbs.

Although this novel approach (from an Anglican perspective) has been well received, Fr. John sees it as a temporary arrangement to lull through our rather cold winter. In a recent meeting Fr. John mentioned that he has already received a few requests to have a "normal" Wednesday evening service in the sanctity of the church.

Fr. John feels having the service at church, as well as keeping the church on the move, while there is a demand for it, can ensure that everyone is accommodated.

If you would like to open your doors to the church on Wednesday evenings, you can do so by placing your name and contact details on the list, or alternatively contact the rectory during office hours on 021 448 1006.
